PKT LOGISTICS Group Sdn Bhd has signed an agreement with Daisei Holdings Corporation (Daisei) to set up a joint venture company, PKT every24 Logistics Sdn Bhd.

This joint venture comes just five months after both parties signed a memorandum of understanding in September last year to explore joint business opportunities in Malaysia, with both strongly believing in the business potential and potential synergies between them.

Based in The Lighthouse at PKT’s One Logistics Hub in Shah Alam, PKT every24 Logistics will focus on tapping the logistics and distribution potential of the food and beverage industry.

Daisei, which is headquartered in Tokyo, is a leading conglomerate in Japan with a 45-year history of logistics experience.

Daisei has more than 20 companies under its umbrella and is involved in a wide range of logistics services.

One of its largest subsidiaries is Daisei Every24 Co Ltd, which specialises in the distribution of ready-made food products to volume retailers, departmental stores, convenience stores, restaurants and others.

Daisei chief executive officer Takamasa Tanaka said: “Daisei is very delighted to partner PKT as both organisations share the same entrepreneurial spirit and passion in growing their businesses.”

PKT Logistics Group Sdn Bhd group chief executive and managing director Datuk Michael Tio, who was in Tokyo to sign the joint venture agreement said: “We truly welcome this tie-up with Daisei as it will definitely spur PKT’s next phase of growth.”

PKT is a leading niche logistics service provider in Malaysia and has a presence in South Korea, Taiwan and most Asean countries.

It is an active proponent of unique and innovative Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives and has won many accolades, including the Frost and Sullivan Niche Logistics Service Provider of the Year 2015.
