Sustainable Green Action Plans by PKT

Our Roadmap to a Sustainable Future
It has been 15 years of rethinking our business through the Sustainability lens since PKT’s 2008 transformation programme with our initial core focus on 4 CSR pillars namely – Community Development, Education & Skills Enhancement, Arts & Culture, Sports & Recreation.
In our recent bid to champion climate and environmental resilience, we have pledged to achieve Net Carbon Zero Emissions by 2039 and strongly support the global clarion call in the race to net zero emissions. We remain steadfast in our commitment to lead the charge in the sustainability revolution as time is of essence – 2023 crossed the halfway point to achieving the SDGs 2030.
Let us now continue our mission to make a positive impact in safeguarding our surrounding environment, communities and stakeholders, in the present and for generations to come. Together, we can save the world!

To enhance our performance, our initial focus should be on eradicating resource wastage, addressing defects, and, most importantly, eliminating non-value-adding activities from our processes.

Carpool Campaign
We are committed to reducing carbon emissions and incentivising our employees with a RM5 meal voucher to be used at our cafes.
This initiative not only helps them enjoy a tasty meal but also supports sustainable transportation, reduces traffic and promotes a greener future.
Green building certification is applied to the entire life cycle of our buildings and warehouses from the planning and design, construction, operation, maintenance, renovation to eventual demolition phases.

the lighthouse : the first Green Building Index (GBI) Gold-certified warehouse in Malaysia
The Lighthouse, located in Shah Alam, Selangor has built-in solar panels to generate green energy. It is also equipped with energy-saving LED lighting systems, a rainwater harvesting system for general usage, translucent sheets and aluminum louvers to bring in natural daylight and improve airflow in the warehouses.

Solar Photovoltaic (PV) System
We have set up Solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems on our car park roofs and buildings to convert sunlight into electricity. This helps us save and use solar energy in our daily operations.

Rainwater Harvesting System
We have established a rainwater harvesting system at The Lighthouse, collecting rainwater to be utilised for general cleaning and watering our premises’ plants.

Natural Lighting
Translucent sheets have been placed on the warehouses to bring in natural daylight, brightening the area and reducing artificial lighting usage.

Natural Ventilation
Natural ventilation has been produced in warehouses with numerous aluminum louvers, promoting indirect light and airflow. Combined with effective roof insulation, the indoor temperature remains cooler than outside during the day.

Transition our fleet from traditional fossil fuel-powered vehicles to more sustainable and environmentally friendly electric alternatives.

Promote staff adoption of EVs by installing charging stations at our offices in the near future.
We have made a commitment to replant three trees for each one that is used during the construction of our new warehouses. This practice is essential for ensuring the long-term sustainability of our natural resources and safeguarding against soil erosion and habitat destruction.
= Net Positive Trees planted.

PKT is committed to reducing the use of papers throughout its operations and through this plan, we have pledged to recycle three (3) kilograms of paper for every one (1) kilogram we use.

Net positive paper recycling
PKT strives to have a positive impact on the environment concerning paper consumption and recycling.
commitment to Reducing Paper Usage
This commitment is a proactive step toward minimising the environmental impact associated with paper production and disposal.

Our pledge and targets are related to managing scope emissions in the context of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
PKT targets to achieve Net-Zero Carbon Emissions by 2025 for Scope 2.
Scope 2 emissions are the greenhouse gases produced indirectly when we use electricity or energy from external sources, such as power companies.
PKT targets to achieve Net-Zero Carbon Emissions by 2030 for Scope 1.
Scope 1 emissions are the greenhouse gases that come directly from our own activities, and they contribute to our organisation's carbon footprint.
PKT targets to achieve Net-Zero Carbon Emissions by 2039 for Scope 3.
Scope 3 emissions are greenhouse gases we produce indirectly through activities beyond our control, such as making products and disposal.
