PKT Logistics Group Sdn Bhd held its “Career Day 2013” for the second year recently as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.

The event, held at One Logistics Hub in Shah Alam, mainly targetted the group’s Facebook fans.

Aimed at providing an opportunity to young graduates and job seekers who have shown continuous support to the group via its Facebook page, it attracted about 1,200 Facebook fans.

A total of 40 companies took part in the event, offering over 250 positions.

Currently, the group has over 17,000 fans aged between early 20s and mid-30s.

There were on-the-spot job interviews for those who had pre-registered.

There was also a wide range of food served, facility tours and a walk down the “Sea of Pineapples” which is the group’s landscape, comprising 28,000 pineapples planted over an area measuring 1km surrounding the office.

PKT Logistics chairman Datuk Jalilah Baba said: “We are creating history as a corporate company by changing the perception towards job recruitment.

“We solely use Facebook to hire staff, all present here are Facebook fans.

“PKT is leading the way in showing the industry how a corporate company can create a sustainable CSR,” she added.

PKT Logistics chief executive and managing director Datuk Michael Tio, when asked about CSR, said: “CSR is not about how you spend your profits, it is about how responsibly you make your profits.”
