FIVE villages in Shah Alam received RM10,000 each from PKT Logistics during the logistic solution company’s Hari Raya open house celebration recently.

Its chairman Datuk Jalilah Baba said the villages namely Kampung Bukit Naga, Kampung Jawa, Kampung Jalan Kebun, Kampung Johan Setia and Kampung Medan were all situated near their company, hence they wanted to do something for the villages.

The event, held at the company’s warehouse in Section 32, saw representatives and children from all five villages together with staff members, business partners and friends celebrating the festival.

“We hope this small donation will go towards helping villagers get their daily necessities.

“We also hope to receive support from the local community here so our business will grow faster,” she said.

The company is also planning to build futsal and badminton courts for the use of both their staff and villagers in the area.

Apart from the celebration, PKT Logistics group managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Michael B.Y. Tio also launched the PKT Logistics’ Education Fund at the event.

The fund worth RM500,000 is for children from the villages. Ten successful applicants will receive full scholarship to study at ALC College in Klang while 60 others will receive partial scholarships.

Jalilah said students with good results would have a chance to work at the company later.

Guests at the open house were treated to a sumptuous lunch buffet of satay, char kuey teow, lontong, murtabak, Chicken Wings, rendang and traditional Malay kuihs.

Some of the guests were later given a tour of the logistics hub by staff of the company.
