BATU KAWAN: PKT Logistics Group Sdn Bhd, which aims to be listed in 2019, is targeting a RM1bil revenue by 2020.

Group chief executive and managing director Datuk Michael Tio (pic) said that for this year, the company projected RM650mil turnover, a 30% improvement over 2017.

Speaking at the official opening of The 12 Waves warehouse in Batu Kawan by Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, he said the new facility would help PKT enlarge the revenue contribution from the northern region, which currently stands at 70%.

“The target is to achieve a 15% market share in the north by 2019.

“About 50% of the logistic business in the north comes from the electrical and electronic sector, while the other half is from the automotive industry,” he added.

Tio said PKT aimed to be listed on Bursa Malaysia next year.

“As PKT received enormous support from the Malaysian Investment Development Authority, the company will go for public listing only in Malaysia,” he said.

Group chairman Datuk Jalilah Baba said PKT was taking a bold step in establishing The 12 Waves as an integrated logistics hub to serve its customers in the northern corridor.

Built at a cost of RM120mil, the 650,000-sq-ft warehouse is equipped with state-of-the-art features such as solar panels, natural lighting and ventilation as well as advanced security and surveillance system.

The 12 Waves also contains a truckers’ lounge, service area with a food court, convenience store, shower facilities and Japanese garden.

The 12 Waves is PKT’s 4th generation warehouse after its iconic The Ship, The Waves and The Lighthouse warehouses in Shah Alam.

The 12 Waves, located on a 70-acre site in Batu Kawan, serves as a central component of the group’s integrated auto-hub development in the northern region.

The auto-hub will also contain components such as The Ship Campus, The Automotive Boulevard, The Lighthouse Lodge and The Andaman Wharf.

“These components will be completed over the next five years,” Tio said.

At the launch, The 12 Waves was given recognition by the Malaysia Book of Records as “The Longest Warehouse in Malaysia” and “The Biggest Single Storey Warehouse in Malaysia”.
