PETALING JAYA: PKT Group, an integrated logistics player, has opened a branch in Kuantan to further tap the potential of the east-coast market. Currently, PKT Group hauls more than 1,500 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) of laden containers from Port Klang to Kuantan monthly.
“We intend to find equivalent laden cargo back from Kuantan and thus creating cost saving to our client. Our next target offices are in the southern area of Peninsular Malaysia as well as in East Malaysia. “We may even emulate our One Logistics Hub concept to the east coast,” said president Datuk SK Tio.
The PKT Group’s Kuantan branch is located in the Gebeng industrial area. The targeted customers are the traditional petrochemical, oil & gas industries. “PKT Group is not a new player in east coast but have in fact been here servicing the industries since more than 10 years ago from its headquarter,” said Tio.
Earlier this month, the company launched ‘The Ship’ – PKT Group new headquarters in the One Logistics Hub in Shah Alam – by International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed. The One Logistics Hub is a three-phased development and is one of the biggest distribution centre in South-East Asia with 740,000 sq ft built over 1.18 million sq ft of prime industrial land. The total value of domestic investment for the One Logistics Hub is RM150mil.
Its other offices in Malaysia are in Penang and Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Sepang as well as container freight stations in Westports and Northport in Port Klang.
PKT Group provides total logistics solutions that include custom brokerage, freight forwarding, warehousing and distribution activities.
