PETALING JAYA: PKT Logistics Group Sdn Bhd has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Daisei Holdings Corp of Japan to explore the possibility of pursuing joint business opportunities in Malaysia.

The MoU was signed after a visiting group from PKT were taken on a tour of one of Daisei’s facilities in Nagoya.

PKT Logistics group chief executive and managing director Datuk Michael Tio said that since year 2000, the company had adopted a “Look East” policy to collaborate with the best of Japanese logistics companies to enhance logistics service levels in Malaysia.

Daisei is an ideal partner for PKT as they are a leading Japanese conglomerate in all aspects of logistics services and they will help PKT widen our niche business segments. Working with Daisei, we also look forward to bringing Japanese logistics best practices to Malaysian companies,” he said.

Daisei is a leading conglomerate in Japan with a 45-year history of logistics experience. It has about 20 companies involved in a wide range of services.

Daisei Holdings chief executive officer Takamasa Tanaka said: “We are confident of forging a strong partnership with PKT by leveraging on our rich experience in Japan to tap on the opportunities in the Malaysian market.

PKT Logistics is a niche logistics service provider in Malaysia and has a presence in South Korea, Taiwan and most Asean countries. It has won several awards including the Frost and Sullivan Niche Logistics Service Provider of the Year 2015.

The final jewel in the crown that is Tio’s formula is surely the thousands who are following his company’s talent-hunt Facebook page, and this in itself shows that many are drawn to PKT’s work culture.
