The Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Polytechnic (Polisas) in collaboration with PKT Logistics Group Sdn Bhd, Feruni Ceramiche Sdn Bhd and the Malaysian Polytechnic Entrepreneurship Center (MPEC) have been recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records (MBR) for having the “Most Number of Participants in a Young Entrepreneurship Competition”.
A total of 885 students from 28 polytechnics and 19 community colleges throughout Malaysia took part in the programme.
The certificate was presented by MBR chief operating officer Christopher Wong to Polisas director Norlida Abd Razak, witnessed by Pahang state assembly speaker Datuk Ishak Muhamad, PKT Logistics Group group chief executive and managing director Datuk Michael Tio and Feruni Ceramiche managing director Datuk CC Ngei at the polytechnic’s campus in Kuantan.
The Young SocialPreneur Programme 2017 combines three key concepts — entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship and social responsibility to the community.
Apart from raising funds for selected charities, the programme also aims to develop student entrepreneurship in a more competitive environment in line with the theme “Entrepreneurship for a Sustainable Lifestyle”.
The programme requires students to think creatively and innovatively to maximise profits through entrepreneurial activity.
Participants will be judged on their creativity in developing business plans and distributing profits to selected charitable organisations.
A total of 47 groups joined a two-day boot camp and group entrepreneurship project presentation session on July 17 and 18 at Polisas, Kuantan.
Only 20 teams were selected to continue the challenge to the next level.
The top 10 groups received an initial injection of RM1,000 per group for the members to implement their projects.
